Mine has never burned brighter
Instead you choose the dark
So I put out the fire

You write and say you miss me
Your words leap out and kiss me
Your actions speak louder; they scream and yell
Your silence, overcoming like the tide on a swell
I thought I knew you well but you always prove me wrong
I try to speak and tell you but I can only write this song

Your mystery is beauty and yet the hardest part
So I relinquish these feelings and admire your silent art.

I approached the beam and locked eyes with the first guardian. We met in the middle and locked arms. Shoving back and forth I finally bested him when he lost his footing and fell to his death. The second and final guardian stood at the ready, I planted my feet and pushed off. Accelerating at full speed I threw myself at him, taking him with me off of the edge. I was the new king of chicken.

trapped and betrayed
slapped in cuffs
left in this cave

no sight, no sound
like a dog in a pound
about to be put down 

life and the like are all gone
look to the walls and the marks I’ve drawn
and what you’ll see is its less than three
